Because We Care was established in 1990 by Andra D. Matthews, a Registered Nurse and Training Center Coordinator. Because We Care operates in partnership with the American Heart Association and the American Safety and Health Institute.

The underlying philosophy of this well recognized Christian-based non-profit organization is to encourage individuals to take responsibility and stewardship for their own health, the collective health of members of their nucleus and extended family, as well as the community-at-large.

Because We Care believes that the holistic approach will result in greater personal empowerment to the individuals we serve through our comprehensive community-based program of outreach, education, training and counseling.

Each program has been integrated with the most current prevention and wellness concepts, strategies and model practices.

Because We Care Health Training Center is a preventive health professional certification and training center specializing in a wide variety of training classes including: Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), Phlebotomy, Babysitting Certification, EKG Training, Blood Borne Pathogens; Blood Pressure Reduction, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Pet CPR/ First Aid, Cholesterol Monitoring, First Aid, Holistic Health, Home Safety, Medication, Grocery Store Healthy Food Tour, Health Seminars, and Stress Management.

Because We Care focuses on preventative health. This class includes teachings on Master Cleansing which is the cleansing of the liver, intestines, kidney and colon. The holistic grocery store tour and healthy cooking classes are also popular.

CPR Instructor's BLS Class offered in February and September each year. This class is two 8-hour sessions.

Classes are held at the Because We Care Health Training Center which is conveniently located close to the Metro.
